Project Management Association of Nepal (PMAN) has been formally accepted as a national member association (MA) by the members of the Council of Delegates (CoD) meeting of International Project Management Association (IPMA) in Dublin, Ireland on September 27th. It was hosted by the Project Management Institute Ireland. There were representatives from more than 35 countries for the meeting.

PMAN had submitted its application in June 2009 to the Executive Board of IPMA for membership. After reviewing the application, it was recommended for approval by the CoD. Representative from the applying associations have to be present to address the council meeting.

A presentation was made on the 26th about the association and its activities. Voting took place the next day. Along with PMAN, Australian Institute of Project Management (AIPM) and Lithuanian Project Management Association (IPVA) were also unanimously approved by CoD to join the IPMA family.

Other countries from Asia who are members of IPMA include Azerbaijan, China, India, Iran, Kazakhstan, and Taiwan. The CoD is the steering committee of IPMA. Each national member association nominates one council representative and one alternate, who attend the council meetings twice a year. Its main tasks are to decide on the constitution of IPMA, approve the two-year plan, elect the Executive Board Officers, ratify memberships, and evaluate progress on projects and activities. The next CoD meeting will take place in March 2010 in the Netherlands.
