
The project aimed to serve mothers, infants, and community members of Bhitiban Chaur and Tatke area of Kumakh Rural Municipality, Salyan by establishing a birthing center and primary healthcare facility. The objective was to make safe deliveries of normal pregnancies at this facility and refer complicated cases to nearest hospital, two-hour’s journey away. The center would also serve as a primary healthcare facility with paramedics available 24/7. The major activities were land and equipment acquisition, construction, staff hiring and training, and handover. It was achieved through a tripartite partnership between Human Development and Community Services (HDCS), Nepal, Kumakh Rural Municipality, and Non-Resident Nepali Association, National Coordination Committee of USA.
